SUBJECT
Swiss Alps
This series is completely sold and stands here as a record of the work.
Peaks, ridges and snow couloirs, painted impasto in oil on wood panel. Every work in the series is sold. Anyone looking for something comparable will find it under Abstract Landscapes, or can ask about a commission.
Why wood and not canvas
Impasto paint needs a support that does not flex.
Thickly applied oil paint has weight. On canvas it cracks over the years, on panel it does not.

What impasto means
The paint stands on the painting instead of lying in it.
Snow is painted as a raised surface rather than as white paint. The modelling comes from height.
The subjects
Single peaks, ridges against the light, couloirs between rock ribs.
These are not named mountains, with one exception, and not panoramas. The framing stays tight.
