Art for the restaurant

60 to 100 cm, gold leaf under oil, because gilded surfaces work under warm evening light.

A restaurant is the one commercial space where the lighting deliberately turns warm and directional in the evening. That is exactly where a gilded painting shows what it can do.

Why gold leaf suits it here

Warm spot lighting sets the metal moving.

Under a spot, a gilded surface changes with every step a guest takes. In an office that would be a nuisance, here it is the point.

Wall areas between tables

60 to 100 cm, with the centre at 150 cm.

A little higher than usual, so seated guests do not stand in front of it and it stays visible from the neighbouring tables.

What the kitchen and grease mean

Keep your distance from an open kitchen.

A film of grease settles on oil surfaces and is hard to remove. At least a few metres away, better still a different wall.

Bar and passage

Portrait format, narrow, between shelves.

Where the wall is tight, a narrow upright carries more than a square that is too small.

Series or single work

A dining room takes two to four works.

More turns it into a gallery and takes the calm out of the room.

In short

Gold leaf, 60 to 100 cm, centre at 150 cm.

Delivery and hanging in the Zurich region and Central Switzerland.
