COLOUR
Pastel-coloured paintings
Restrained tones: cream, rose, pale blue, sage.
Pastel tones calm a room rather than command it. They suit places where a strong picture would be too much.
Which rooms
Bedrooms, waiting rooms, light living rooms.
In rooms that are already light, pastel keeps the wall quiet. Hard contrasts would jar here.
Combinations
With light wood, linen and white walls.
Pastel needs no strong frame. A narrow shadow-gap frame, or none, is enough.
Light
Best in daylight.
Artificial light may be warm but not too yellow, or the cool tones turn. Opposite a window the group works best.
In short
Light, calm tones for calm rooms.
Prices from CHF 300, straight from the studio near Zurich.
