SUBJECT
Colour field painting
A colour field is a large calm plane whose effect comes from tone and surface rather than from a subject.
Very little happens, and that is the intention. These paintings hold a wall without pulling the room towards them. They are the most common choice for offices and practices. Four works are available.
What a colour field does
It fills a wall without dominating the room.
In a meeting room a painting hangs in view for hours. A subject eventually becomes loud, a plane does not.

Texture instead of drawing
Close up, the surface becomes the subject.
From five metres you see one tone. From half a metre, knife edges, cracks and runs of paint.
Tones in the catalogue
Indigo, petrol, taupe, sage and cream.
For a tone to match a particular wall, the colour pages will get you there faster.

Size
From 100 cm, otherwise the plane looks like a swatch.
A small colour field reads as a colour sample. The effect begins at about a metre.
Availability
Four works available.
I accept commissions in a particular tone.
