ROOM

Reception and meeting room

From 140 cm, because both rooms are seen from five metres and more.

Reception and meeting rooms share one problem and have opposite viewing times. At reception a painting is seen in passing, in the meeting room it is seen for hours. Both need size, for different reasons.

Why from 140 cm

From five metres everything fine-grained disappears.

A painting of 80 cm on a reception wall reads as an object rather than a picture. The wall sets the minimum size.

Reception

A single work, behind or beside the desk.

Above the desk the painting competes with the company logo. On the side wall it has the surface to itself.

Meeting room

A calm surface, because the painting hangs there for hours.

Anything still trying to tell a story in a two-hour meeting becomes a distraction. Colour field and abstract landscape hold up to it.

Light and reflection

No glass, a matt surface.

Ceiling lights and screens reflect. An open oil surface without glass solves that.

Large format or group

One work from 140 cm, or two medium ones as a pair.

Three or more works look undecided on a reception wall.

In short

From 140 cm, matt, a calm tone, no glass.
