Art for the office
From 100 × 80 cm, a calm plane of colour or an abstract landscape, because the painting hangs in view for hours.
In a meeting room the same person sees the same painting every week for months. That rules out anything still trying to say something on the tenth viewing. What remains is planes and surfaces.
Meeting room
One large format on the wall opposite the windows.
Nothing hangs behind the screen, it only gets in the way there. On the long wall a large format has room and is seen from four to five metres.
Single office
60 to 100 cm, at eye level when seated.
Anyone sitting at a desk for eight hours sees a painting from the side. The centre goes at about 120 cm rather than 145 cm, because seated eye level is lower.
Corridor
A series in one format, at even spacing.
Repetition works when walking past. Three works of the same size at the same spacing read as one gesture.
Which technique
Colour field and abstract landscape, matt.
Gilded surfaces respond to light and draw attention in an office where it is not wanted. Charcoal and colour field stay the same all day.
Buy or rent
