ROOM

Art for the law firm

80 to 140 cm in silver leaf or grey, restrained enough not to join in the conversation.

In a consulting room people sit who have an uncomfortable decision to make. A painting may support the calm here and should comment on nothing. That rules out more than you would think.

Consulting room

80 to 140 cm, behind the client rather than behind the lawyer.

Behind the adviser, a painting draws the eye away from the person during the conversation. On the wall behind the client it stays background.

Which tones

Silver leaf, slate, taupe and concrete grey.

Cool, muted tones read as restraint. Gold reads differently in a law firm than in a restaurant.

What is ruled out

The figurative, and anything with a recognisable mood.

A subject that looks sad or triumphant comments on the conversation. A plane does not.

Reception and waiting area

From 120 cm, a single work.

The first room carries the statement. After that it gets quieter.

A series across several rooms

The same technique, the same family, different tones.

That way the firm looks coherent without any two rooms looking identical.

In short

Silver leaf or grey, 80 to 140 cm, behind the client.

Delivery and hanging in the Zurich region and Central Switzerland.
